End of the (muddy) desert crossing for Christophe Laporte. The Frenchman from Visma-Lease a bike confirmed his renewed form from the Olympic Games, where he completed the podium in the road race behind Remco Evenepoel and Valentin Madouas, by winning his first victory of the season on Sunday on the roads of Paris-Tours.
Laporte won in front of his escape companion Mathias Vacek and with around twenty seconds on the peloton of favorites led by Groupama-FDJ, who for a time threatened the leading duo without managing to completely close the gap.
Christophe Laporte thus puts an end to a long drought during a season during which he harbored great ambitions but was ultimately marked by injuries and viruses. “There were moments of doubt,” confided the Frenchman after the race.
