Tennis. ATP – Shanghai – Novak Djokovic: “It took me a little time…”

Novak Djokovic made its comeback this Saturday at Masters 1000 de Shanghai. After a short stint in Davis Cup where competitiveness was less, the Serbian was strong against the American Alex Michelsen. It had to be. Trailing 4-1 from the start, “Nole” pulled himself together and thought he would win until the end. But the scenario was reversed in the second round. Led 4-1, Michelsen came back together, and even had the opportunity to win the set in the tie-break, in vain. In the absence ofAlex de Minaur, Djokovic took the opportunity to return to the Top 8 in the Race.

“Happy to have been challenged by a young player”

It was the first match against Alex and I hadn’t played in a while so it took me a little while to shake off the rust. He started off great, with big serves and an aggressive style of tennis…he’s not afraid to step up and attack his opponent. It was a very close match and I found both sets to be of a high level. I’m happy that I was able to keep calm in the tie-break of the second set. I’m happy to have been challenged by a young player and I’m looking forward to the next match.“It will be in front of Stan Wawrinka or Flavio Cobolli.
