The Platform, one of the most successful Spanish films to date, will be entitled to a highly anticipated sequel, scheduled for October 2024 on Netflix. The first opus, released in 2019, remains the fifth most watched non-English film on the platform, with 129.7 million hours viewed in the first 91 days, the equivalent of 82.8 million views.

What will “La Plateforme 2” be about?
The sequel to The Platform uses the same basic concept as the first film. In this vertical prison, each level houses a cell and a platform descends, offering food for only two minutes a day. The film explores the social dynamics and struggles for survival in this brutal and inhumane system.

Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia returns to write, direct and produce this sequel, ensuring the continuity of the film’s artistic vision. The music is composed by Aitor Etxebarria, while Jon Sangroniz is the cinematographer. The film is produced by Carlos Juárez, Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia and Raquel Perea of the Basque Films team.
