It’s official, Bernard Arnault buys Paris Match from Vincent Bolloré – DECIDEURS MAGAZINE

The LVMH group has just officially announced the takeover of the emblematic weekly Match which was until now part of the Bolloré galaxy.

That’s it, Paris Match changes hands. The second attempt is the right one for the richest Frenchman in the world who had already tried it in 2021. According to those familiar with the matter, the transaction between Vincent Bolloré and Bernard Arnault was carried out calmly. The new owner declares himself “happy to see this illustrious magazine which has just celebrated its 75th anniversary join the LVMH family.” For what? What will happen?

Governance

For the moment, the “Bolloré boys” remain in charge since the editorial staff remains led by Jérôme Béglé, general director since 2023, whose position becomes publication director. The role of general manager will be carried out by Pierre-Emmanuel Ferrand, currently general manager of Lagardère News in charge of press and digital.

On the logistical side, the writing of Paris Match is located rue des Cévennes in the 15th arrondissement of Paris with all the other media of the Bolloré group (JDD, Europe 1, Europe 2, Cnews). A move is planned for 2025. The first issue “made in LVMH” will be released on October 10.

Goals

The new owner should rely on a well-known brand to highlight his group which recently bought the leather goods manufacturer Polène. Paris Match can boast a print circulation estimated at 440,000 copies and a very strong reputation in the French-speaking world. One of the challenges will be to rejuvenate the readership, particularly by doubling “in the short term” 25,000 digital subscriptions and by strengthening its presence on TikTok and Instagram.

On newsstands, it will be found next to a new weekly JDNewsthe new media from… Vincent Bolloré who has no intention of abandoning his ambitions in the press.
