A date very special for the Refuge de l’Arche. A new aviary for a group of 12 Tonkean macaques was inaugurated this Saturday at the Refuge de l’Arche in Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne. An inauguration in the year of the 50th anniversary of the structure and on the same day 90th birthday of actress Brigitte Bardotmember of the Refuge’s honorary committee. A very special message from Brigitte Bardot was therefore read to celebrate this double anniversary during the inauguration.

“50 kisses of love”

“She thanks the Refuge for its actions,” says Jean-Marie Mulon, the president of the Refuge, at the microphone of Bleu Mayenne, “she writes with great tenderness ’50 kisses of love signed Brigitte Bardot’, it’s one of the passages that touched us”. The president also returned to the generosity of the former actress’ Foundation. “It is true that this aviary that we inaugurated this Saturday represents a cost of around 120,000 euros and we were very concretely missing the 30,000 euros that the Brigitte Bardot Foundation granted us and the agreement was given very quickly otherwise this dream could not have become reality”he mentions.

The Brigitte Bardot Foundation has been a partner of the Refuge de l’arche in Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne since 1988.
