A first round and then leaves. The hockey players of Montpellier (D2) suffered the law of the highest ranked Saturday evening against Courchevel Pralognan Méribel, (D1) during the 1st round of the Coupe de France. We are now heading towards the championship, which will kick off next Saturday, October 5, at the Végapolis ice rink in Montpellier, against Roanne.
After a long off-season since their elimination in the quarter-finals of the play-offs last March against their bête noire, Lyon, the Montpellier Vipers returned for the first time to the ice of the Végapolis ice rink in an official match.
For this match 1 of the first round of the Coupe de France against the Bouquetins (HCMP), a club resulting from a union of the resorts of Courchevel, Méribel and Pralognan-la-Vanoise, the Héraultais tackled a big piece from the start .
The first third was fairly balanced: Montpellier had the best chances, through Lobstein, Petrosian and Cermak, but the Ibex opened the scoring first, thanks to Bureau. The Vipers responded straight away, again thanks to Petrosian, but were surprised by a goal from Masson just before returning to the locker room.
The second half, however, was much livelier, and Montpellier immediately managed to come back into the lead thanks to a double from Petrosian. The Vipers then held their defense for a quarter of an hour, but the Ibex equalized with a splendid goal from Bermond-Gonnet. The Héraultais therefore raced to score, and returned to the locker room again with a goal behind.
The Savoyards then calmly managed their lead in the third period, despite a few incursions from Montpellier. The locals paid for their little lack of efficiency, and conceded a final goal from Stewart, despite two big saves from Stiliadis. Place in the championship now for the Montpellier Vipers, who will face Roanne for the first day of D2.
