Edozie opens his counter

Samuel Edozie was looking for him since his first appearance in the game, he finally found the net. The Englishman will remember his first goal. Although he summed it up by saying “I saw the space, I took it”, it’s not as simple as that. He managed to avoid a good part of Dender’s defense to put himself in position to cross the ball and open the scoring.

Coosemans still important

Anderlecht would have had a much more complicated match without Colin Coosemans. This phrase comes up at every RSCA match. The goalkeeper pulled out all the stops by pushing a header from Aurélien Scheidler onto his post. Shortly before, he blocked a cross-shot that could have ended up in the back of the goal. Anderlecht trailed at the break in terms of expected goals. The marker showed the opposite. Thanks to Coosemans.

The goalkeeper once again saved the furniture in stoppage time. He was in the right place. As is often the case at the start of the season.

Dender deserved this goal

The balance was quickly restored after the break. It only took seven minutes for Scheidler to take his revenge with a shot into the top corner. Crystal clear. Anderlecht was generally trapped by the speed of Dender’s reconversion.

With two attackers

David Hubert tried everything with just under half an hour remaining in the match. The coach dared to play in a 4-4-2 with Kasper Dolberg and Luis Vazquez in attack. The first in a free role around the second.

It should have paid off if the Argentinian had aimed his header or better placed his shot. Anderlecht were also unlucky when Leander Dendoncker saw his try stopped by the upright. Kasper Dolberg thought he would give his team victory by scoring at the last second. Luis Vazquez was offside, the goal was ruled out.

Anderlecht showed a more interesting face in this system of play and proved that it is capable of playing with a lot of people in front when the match requires it.

How Hubert put Dolberg back at the heart of Anderlecht’s game: ‘I’m better when I can combine’

Degreef leaves his business card

The end of the match was also marked by the rise of young Tristan Degreef. The 19-year-old winger, considered one of Neerpede’s greatest talents, has lived up to his reputation. We saw it against La Louvière in the Cup last season and during micro climbs into the game in the Pro League. He finally got his half hour and brought some nice things. Anderlecht found itself an additional joker.
