One point and that’s it: Anderlecht draw at Dender and continue their winless streak

The meeting between Dender and Sporting Anderlecht (1-1), played on Saturday as part of the 9th day of the championship, ended in a draw.

The RSCA has not won a single one of its last five championship matches (4 draws, 1 defeat) and is in 5th place in the standings with 14 points. Dender is 9th with 12 units.

After having taken only 4 points in its last 5 matches while it had won 7 in the first 3, Dender was not shy against an Anderlecht still in search of identity. David Hubert made only one change from the victorious eleven in the Europa League against Ferencvaros on Thursday, bringing in Dreyer in place of Amuzu.

Despite the good intentions of the promoted team, it was the visitors who made the difference. Edozie took advantage of a defense that was too wait-and-see to open the scoring in favor of Anderlecht (0-1, 28th). The English rookie brought the ball up from midfield before heading into the box. Slipping between the defenders, he hit the closed side and left Devriendt there.

At the start of the second period, Nsimba perfectly launched a counter-attack from Dender, and slipped the ball to Scheidler towards the opposing rectangle. The attacker did not bother with unnecessary gestures and took advantage of rough control and the bouncing ball to fire a cannon shot into the ceiling of Coosemans (1-1, 53rd).

In the last part of the match, Anderlecht stumbled on a block from Dender who, however, created several chances to win the match. Dolberg thought he would force the result in added time, but his goal was disallowed for offside at the base of the action. Anderlecht’s last league victory dates back to August 17.
