Guest on the set of C to you Thursday January 16, Robbie Williams spoke about his relationship with Nicole Appleton, with whom he was engaged until 1999. A relationship during which he confides having made a lot of mistakes.
In his biopic BettermanRobbie Williams talks with tenderness and regret about his relationship with his ex-partner, Nicole Appleton. Singer of the British group All Saints, she dated Robbie Williams in the 90s. They even got engaged in 1998, before separating a few months later in 1999. A breakup made by telephone by the young singer, then in the grip of mental health problems and alcohol addiction.
“I was a very bad boyfriend and I'm still ashamed of it today,” confided the 50-year-old singer on the set of C to youof which he was the exceptional guest on Thursday January 16. “Learning to be a responsible boyfriend or husband is a part of many men's lives. Many of us only learn from the mistakes we make,” he admitted.

But this breakup and his behavior that he regrets today ultimately allowed him, in hindsight, to become a “betterman”, like his biopic. “Thanks to what she allowed me to become, today I am someone different, with different morals, different understanding, and therefore a better man,” he added on the plateau.
“She’s an angel”
Despite this chaotic separation, Robbie Williams and Nicole Appleton are today on very good terms and the singer even attended the European premiere of Betterman in London on November 28, 2024. “I still have shame. I haven't been the best human being but she forgives me and I love her for that. It's incredibly wonderful to have someone in front of you who could hate you but doesn't. She’s an angel,” he concluded.
Since their breakup in 1999, the two former lovers have each rebuilt their lives on their own. In 2008, Nicole Appleton married Liam Gallagher, the singer of Oasis and rival of Robbie Williams, before divorcing him in 2014. For his part, Robbie Williams married the American actress Ayda Field in 2010. They are today eight parents of four children: Theodora (born in 2012), Charlton (born in 2014), Colette (born in 2018) and Beau (born in 2020).
