Hady Habib victorious in the first round of the Australian Open

New breakthrough for Lebanese with the victory of Hady Habib in the first round of the Australian Open in Melbourne. The 26-year-old Lebanese won his first victory in a Grand Slam tournament on Sunday, beating the Chinese Yunchaokete Bu ( 65th in the world) 7-6, 6-4, 7-6.

After winning three qualifying rounds of the Australian Open tennis tournament, Hady Habib became the first Lebanese player in the Open era to reach the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament. He had previously dominated the Frenchman Clément Chidekh with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (10/8), the American Patrick Kypson (6-4, 7-6) and the Taiwanese Chun Hsin Tseng on the same score.

Last summer, Hady Habib had already discovered the thrill of the Grand Slam tournament courts during his participation in the men’s singles tennis tournament of the 2024 Olympic Games on the clay court of Roland-Garros.
