Currently ranked 124th in the world, Chloé Paquet recently received good news. The Frenchwoman obtained the FFT wild card and will therefore play the Australian Open next January.

There will (normally) be at least five French women present in the big draw at the Australian Open (January 12 to 26, 2025). Indeed, if Caroline Garcia (48th), Diane Parry (53rd), Varvara Gracheva (66th) and Clara Burel (73rd) were already qualified for the first Grand Slam of the year (the cut was set until in 98th place), this will a priori also be the case for Chloé Paquet. If it is not yet official, the one who is currently ranked 124th in the WTA rankings has obviously received the wild card from the French Federation (FFT) by her own admission. “My first goals for 2025? I was lucky enough, so I think it's not “official”, to have the wild card (from the FFT for the Australian Open). It's not official, don't say it “, declared Paquet, who notably reached the 3rd round at Roland-Garros this year.

Paquet does not lack ambition for 2025

« Knowing that we are going to compete in the big picture during the Grand Slams changes a lot of things because we are less in the dark. And we can plan our season much more. I know I'll start with the United Cup in Sydney. So I will have a preparation tournament and then after this first Grand Slam in Australia being “on the board”. Afterwards, I really have the objective of reaching my best ranking again, that is to say to be less than 96th. And in Grand Slam, I would really like to reach a 2nd week », Also confided Paquet, who was the guest of the latest episode of the RMC Sport podcast on tennis “Court n°1”. In Melbourne, the Parisian will therefore compete in the Australian Open again, as in 2021 (defeat in the 1st round against Mayar Sherif). Not far from the top 100 at the end of the season, the Frenchwoman will try to shine to get closer to one of her major objectives for next year.
