A look back at the quarter-final of the Pierre Thénegal Cup.
The Sundays of team meetings follow one another and are not the same for the men's team of the Trespoux Tennis Club. The Trespouziens were traveling to Flaujac-Poujols this Sunday to play the quarter-final of the Pierre Thénegal Cup, an elimination match to reach the last four of this competition.
The tennis day did not this time turn to the advantage of the TCT, which left the Flaujac-Poujols Le Montat club with a dry defeat of 5 to 0.
Thanks to very good knowledge of the terrain, the Flaujaco-Montatoise team was able to maintain control of the game in the face of attempts by players from the Trespoux Tennis Club. In singles 3, Frédérick Héliès (30/5) from TCT lost 6-1/6-3 against Laurent Béteille (30/2). In the singles 2, it was more close for the Trespouzien Pascal Wirtz (30/3) who faced Cédric Bertrand (30/2), the 2 men offered a good opposition, the Flaujac player won 6-4/6 -3. The last singles pitted the 2 n°1 players of each team against each other, both ranked 30/1. The two protagonists, who had the same ranking on paper, gave a close performance with very pleasant play. The attacks of the Trespouz captain Moran Raynaud and his various climbs to the net were not enough in the face of the lucidity of his opponent of the day, Cédric Debrun, who won 7-5/6-4. The doubles being no longer decisive at the end of the singles matches, all won by the players of Flaujac-Poujols – Le Montat Tennis club, it was a unique Trespouzian pair (Frédérick Frédérick Héliès associated with Pascal Wirtz) who lost in less than 1 hour against Cédric Debrun and Laurent Béteille 6-1/6-2.
End of course for the Trespoux men's tennis team which will turn next January to the mixed competition of the Christian Maury challenge. The brightening of the TCT week comes from the ladies, since the doubles Céline Baynat and Mélanie Potel reached the semi-final of the LOT championship which they will compete at the start of 2025.
