BLS Open: Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova and Swiss Olympic champion Belinda Bencic as headliners

The presentation of the 10th edition of the BLS Open took place this Monday morning. Now unmissable, the event, the first indoor tournament in and the oldest $125,000 WTA tournament, will take place from December 8 to 15 at the Palais de Sports in Beaublanc.

Among the headliners, the record holder of the event, Ekaterina Alexandrova, winner of the Open three times (2016, 2018, 2019), will be there to try to add a new coronation to her record. The Russian, 28th in the world today, will be the No. 1 seed in the tournament.

At her side, we will also have to count on the Swiss Belinda Bencic, world number 4 in 2020, 17th at the end of 2023, Olympic champion in 2021, and who took a break to give birth to her first child; on the Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska (33rd in the world); or on the Danish Clara Tauson (51st in the world, finalist of the Limoges Open in 2022).

The French contingent will also be well represented with Clara Burel (n°74, a WTA title), Elsa Jacquemot (n°149, finalist of the Open last year, junior world champion), Chloé Paquet (n°110) , Océane Dodin (n°115) or Jessika Ponchet (n°124).

In total, this 10th edition of the Limoges BLS Open currently includes 10 players from the world's top 100, including 3 from the top 50.

Draw on Saturday December 7

There will therefore be a lot of people to succeed the Spaniard of Moldovan origin Cristina Bucsa, winner last year in the final against the French Elsa Jacquemot (2-6, 6-1, 6-2).

Three wild cards are still to be awarded.

Big news last year, the Hawk-Eye, this video computer system intended for refereeing, which allows you to check whether the balls are good or bad, will be present again.

The draw for the main draw will take place on Saturday December 7 at 6 p.m., in the Beaublanc reception areas.

The qualifications will take place on Sunday December 8, before the big start of the main draw on Monday 9. The final will close the week on Sunday December 15 from 3:30 p.m.

Note that Jean-Luc Beaubelique, president of the Beaubelique Industrie group and title partner of the tournament, announced the renewal of the partnership with the Open for at least three years.
