If Daniil Medvedev, certainly aware of having exceeded the limits, made up for it during his second match at the Turin Masters by outclassing Alex De Minaur with an exemplary attitude, he nevertheless had a bad start to his masters tournament this Sunday against Taylor Fritz.
A meeting during which the Russian distinguished himself by adopting behavior that was unworthy and unacceptable for a participant in the Masters.
Asked about this in the show “Retour Gagnant” on Eurosportthe former world number 1, Justine Henin, did not spare the current 4e world player.
“We are in a competition which brings together the eight best players in the world and I clearly regret this kind of attitude. We have the impression that there is no combativeness, we are still talking about the Masters, a competition in which we are supposed to give 300%. He manages things the way he wants to manage them but this lack of combativeness, this provocation towards the referee, apart from the fact that he smashes his racket or microphones, we are still seeing ridiculous behavior, which is not very mature in such an important competition, it’s still amazing (…). In such a major tournament, I do not budge, I find that it is a somewhat deplorable attitude and one which does not put high-level Tennis forward, in my opinion. »
