ATP – Shanghai > Tsitsipas’ big mea culpa on Medvedev: “I may have said mean things about his game in the past, but after thinking about it, I think I was completely wrong”

The hatchet seems definitively buried between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev as they will face each other for 14e time in their career this Wednesday in the round of 16 of the Masters 1000 in Shanghai (9−4 for Medvedev).

Particularly loquacious at a press conference after his victory against Frenchman Alexandre Muller this Tuesday, the Greek, after returning to his sometimes complicated but now peaceful relationship with the Russian, also wanted to make amends on certain comments he had made in the past about his boring game.

“I think he’s brought a lot of things to the game that are, in my opinion, quite unorthodox, because you haven’t seen a lot of players in the past play like him. Actually, after thinking about it, I may have said some mean things about his game in the past, but after thinking about it, I think I was completely wrong. He brings a lot of interesting things to his game that are very different from other players. I think that’s what makes him unique as a player, because you don’t see players like him very often, and it gives tennis another dimension in terms of how you play and how you shape it differently. So that’s definitely something that he’s brought to the game so far, and I think many generations will remember that. »
