An elimination that doesn’t mean much: a refereeing error. At the start of the third and final set, on his serve, Wawrinka put the Italian in difficulty. Cobolli’s return is largely out of bounds.

His only lost service game

The referee does not flinch and the Swiss will serve for the second time in the game. Point for Cobolli. But when he should have announced 15-15, the chair umpire indicates 0-30 for the Italian. In the process, the latter breaks Wawrinka before concluding the match a few moments later.

A cruel outcome for Stan Wawrinka, who lost his only service game on this error. After beating the Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, becoming one of the oldest winners in Masters 1000, the Swiss stopped in the second round, depriving him of a duel against Novak Djokovic.
