“Mayot was tired of playing me”

Lucas Pouille confirms his impressive form. After his performance last week in Saint-Tropez, the Northerner qualified for the final of the Mouilleron Challenger.

Intractable, he outclassed Harold Mayot in one hour and two dry sets (6-4, 6-1).

Imperial in service, he stifled his opponent.

This is the fourth time in 2024 that he has dominated Harold Mayot.

So after his match, he declared:

“I felt he had taken a blow to the back of the head.

I played him four times this year and I know he was tired of playing me.

I don’t like playing him either because he’s a very good player who has aspects of his game that bother me.

But when you have already beaten a player in the same year, you arrive on the pitch with confidence, while knowing what to rely on tactically.

The score is still severe.”

This match was all the more important as both players hope to be in the Top 100 at the end of the season.

Pouille also returned to the issue: “This end of the season is important for him, he is close to achieving an important objective when you are young, this milestone of the top 100.

It’s really not far from it. It was a high-stakes match but I hope we’ll both be in the draw at the Australian Open and have some nice food to celebrate.”

To get back into the top 100, he will have to get rid of Quentin Halys in the final, also in this race.
