Duel between the last two French people
The third singles match pits the last two French players entered in Orléans, Benjamin Bonzi (n°174) and Harold Mayot (n°115 and seeded n°5). Thanks to a quick break, which he held throughout the first round, the highest ranked of the two French players won the first set (6-4) on his second attempt, with an ace.
In the second set, Benjamin Bonzi had two break points from the start, which he did not know how to finish, unlike Harold Mayot who seized every opportunity to take his opponent’s service: at 1-1 on two double faults, then at 1-3, before rolling.
