The new year has barely been celebrated in Australia, time for the first quarter-final of the United Cup.

For its first participation in the competition, Kazakhstan achieved a flawless performance in the groups, successively dominating Spain then Greece.

For its part, Germany dominated Brazil and China and can still dream of doing the double after being crowned last year.

At the opening of the match, Elena Rybakina dominated Laura Siegemund without too much difficulty (6-3, 6-1 in 1h05 of play).

This is the third victory for the 6th player in the world in as many matches since the start of the season.

Subsequently, the Mannschaft suffered a hard blow as Alexander Zverev, who had played both group matches, had to withdraw due to a biceps injury.

It was Daniel Masur who challenged Alexander Shevchenko, but logic was respected and it was the Kazakh who won (6-7, 6-2, 6-2) to send Kazakhstan into the last four.

Crowned in 2024, Germany leaves the competition at the quarter-final stage.

Note that a second quarter-final will be played this Wednesday, January 1 between China and the United States.
