Richard Gasquet and Lucas Pouille beaten in the final round of qualifying in Brisbane

Gasquet could compete in other qualifications (129th) in eight days, in Melbourne this time, unless a withdrawal from the main draw allows Lucas Pouille to enter directly and free the French wild card of the Australian Open. Pouille (101st) also lost on Sunday in Brisbane at the gates of the final draw against the very young American Nishesh Basavareddy (19 years old, 138th ATP), in barely an hour and a quarter (6-4, 6- 4). The former world No. 10 had nevertheless saved a match point the day before, against the Australian Jason Kubler (4-6, 6-3, 7-6 [6] in 2h29). Basavareddy will face Gaël Monfils in the first round.
