During his video podcast with his friend Jo, Gaël, whose editorial approach is interesting, did not resist returning to a subject that is “angry”: that of the French Grand Slam titles.
The debate between the two champions was lively, especially since their vision was close but with some real nuances.
For Gaël, and he is not wrong, summarizing the career of a Tennis player by his Grand Slam titles does not necessarily make much sense especially since we have lived through an exceptional period since the Big3 has trusted the titles for 20 years.
“In fact, in France, we talk to you about Grand Slam victories, quite simply because that’s what we’re missing” Jo explained aptly.
Later, in the conversation, to respond to Gaël, Jo also clarified his vision of things by taking two players whose careers are rather exceptional without having been able to lift a Grand Slam title: “It’s true that if we follow this idea, David Ferrer’s career is not great, neither is Zverev’s” commented the Frenchman with humor.
If for David Ferrer, the story is really over.
Zverev may fill this famous empty box. He has the potential even if time passes quickly and the competition is tough.
