The Sétois faced Stade Toulousain this Sunday, December 1 at Mas Viel.
They wanted to take their revenge for last season, after losing in the final of the Occitanie championship against Stade Toulousain.
But the “over 45s” of the Tennis Club of Sète did not succeed. And yet, on their courts at Mas Viel, this Sunday, things seemed well underway. After the singles, the Sétois led 2-1, with a defeat for Bruno Ferrer and victories for Jérôme Poulier and Mathieu Balthazar-Riche.
Picked at the end
The double was therefore going to be decisive. On the court, Nicolas Ramos and Julien De Cornière won the first set 6-3, then led 3-2 in the second before suffering the return of the Toulouse residents. Which won the set 3-6 then the “super tie-break” 7-10. “We got picked off at the end”declares Mathieu Balthazar-Riche. “There is a little taste of unfinished business but no regrets. It's a tennis match, they didn't play badly, it just didn't happen in the important moments. » Stade Toulousain is therefore qualified for the French championships in January. And TC Sète, despite everything, should accompany him. A summons should be issued shortly.
The club is now preparing for the return of the first team, which is playing for the climb to Regional level A. A team made up of “over 45s” as well as Fabien Dugrip, Tom Darruz, Thomas Cronier and Adrien Douce.
