A real rarity since the start of the Open era (1968), the WTA circuit has given rise to only three longer matches. Vicki Nelson and Jean Hepner played for 6 hours and 31 minutes in 1984 in Richmond (United States), easily holding the record for the longest match in women’s tennis. Surreal, even more so for a game in two sets, won by Nelson at the finish (6-4, 7-1[11]). The two athletes had also played a point of 29 minutes and 643 racket shots.
