Carlos Alcaraz lit the fire by complaining about playing too many matches during the year while his agent also concocted some very lucrative exhibitions for him this year which ultimately had no sporting value. Carlitos defended himself by explaining that the circuit should not be confused with these gala matches. The former Australian player even came to his defense even if his argument does not hold water regarding the Spaniard.

“I have no problem with players looking to play exhibitions, especially given the limited time an athlete has to build wealth. I think it is up to the circuit to be strong enough financially so that players are not encouraged to chase this type of event.”
