On the sidelines of the Tokyo tournament, world number 1 Jannik Sinner responded to Carlos Alcaraz who recently complained about the busy schedule.

While Carlos Alcaraz complained on the sidelines of the Laver Cup about a season too full of “mandatory tournaments”, his rival Jannik Sinner responded to the former world number 1. The Italian player implied that the Spaniard and other players could do without playing certain exhibitions like the Laver Cup.

“Alcaraz said that the calendar was too busy? It’s true, in recent years the seasons have been very long, but you have to make choices. There are mandatory tournaments, that’s obvious, but each player can still choose where and when to play. You don’t have to play.” said the world number 1 at a press conference on the eve of his entry into the Beijing tournament.

As a reminder, the main change that will affect the year 2025 at the ATP is the fact that the Masters 1000 in Canada and Cincinnati will move to 12 days, like Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, Rome and Shanghai, which nevertheless benefits the highest ranked players.
