This Tuesday, Juncheng Shang won his first title, at home, at the ATP 250 tournament in Chengdu against the No. 1 seed, Lorenzo Musetti (7-6 (7-4), 6-1).

Young Chinese tennis hopeful Shang Juncheng won his first title on the main circuit in his country on Tuesday by winning the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Chengdu against the No. 1 seed, Italian Lorenzo Musetti, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1. Against the world number 19, the 19-year-old left-hander, exemplary in defense and author of rare judicious net attacks, mainly relied on his particularly solid serve throughout the match.

The two opponents held their engagement until 5-5 in the first set when Shang managed the break before immediately losing his serve. In the deciding game, he quickly took off, well supported by the crowd won over to his cause.

In the second set, Musetti, increasingly irritated by the resistance of the world number 55, seemed to lose his footing. The Italian conceded his serve twice and failed to convert two break points. Thanks to this success, Shang, currently the second youngest player in the Top 100, will find himself next Monday at the gates of the Top 50 of the ATP ranking.
