Realme 14x debuts in Malaysia without the durability of Diamond Design

In India, smartphone enthusiasts looking for a new device with updated IP69 protection and 6,000mAh capacity might consider the OnePlus 13 at its new flagship price of at least INR 69,998 (~812 $) today (January 25, 2025) – or the Realme 14x, which has the same attributes for a fraction of the price.

The device has now also made its way to Malaysia – but it’s not the same 14x that has been showcased elsewhere. It still has a 120Hz Eye Comfort display and two cameras on the back in a design“minimalist” (or “Samsung Galaxy S25-), but there is no more IP69, nor “Diamond Design” for its thin and light design, close to that of the iPhone.

The 14x retains a“military grade impact resistance” in its new market, but it is no longer presented as capable of feats such as the ability to survive immersion in water at 85°C. Instead, it is presented as having a“military grade impact resistance“. Instead, he is presented as having the“5G for everyone” thanks to the same Dimensity 6300 technology as the Indian version.

The final insult to that injury is the battery, downgraded to 5,000mAh and 15W charging via USB-C to boot (up from 45W in the “original” 14x).

It has at least one new color, Peridot Green, which is exclusive to Malaysian customers, who can also purchase the device in Carbon Black.

Both models come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage (while the 14x starts at 6GB in India).

They retail for 1,099 Malaysian ringgit (MYR, or ~$251) on Realme’s TikTok site for the country – while the Indian edition of the 14x is now priced at 14,898 INR (~$173) on Amazon.in.
