GTA 6 risks costing an arm and a leg… and could show the way to other publishers

Matthew Ball recently revealed in an analysis that “ some game makers hope GTA 6 will be priced between $80 and $100 “. This potential increase from the current rate of $70 could create a domino effect on overall market prices. Since the general increase in fares to $70 in 2020, a further increase to $80, or even $100, might seem somewhat excessive, although it would, again according to Ball, be perfectly justifiable.

Indeed, according to the analyst, GTA 6 would paradoxically be the cheapest in the franchise if it were marketed at a price of 70 dollars. Taking into account inflation, the average price of a game GTA would actually be $91. He then added that “ GTA 6 could restore video game prices after decades of deflation », and that many publishers would welcome this increase in order to be able to in turn increase the starting price of their productions.
