This Tuesday, around 5:30 p.m., Villerupt was once again the scene of a scene of violence. Two men, a Nigerian and a Cape Verdean, were stabbed in an apartment on rue Alfred-Mézières in this town of Meurthe-et-Moselle. One of the injured had a wound on his hand, while the other was hit in the chest. The vital prognosis of this last victim is compromised, according to the first medical reports.
Both men were immediately transported to hospital for emergency treatment. Emergency services dispatched a doctor from Smur, an ambulance from Hussigny-Godbrange and another from Audun-le-Tiche, the Smur from Mont-Saint-Martin and firefighters from the Longwy barracks to the scene.

Ongoing investigation
The exact reasons for this attack remain unclear. On site, police officers from the Mont-Saint-Martin police station and the technical and scientific police were present. The police opened an investigation to determine the circumstances, identify the perpetrators of the brawl and the underlying motives. At this stage, no preferred leads have been communicated, but law enforcement is carefully examining all hypotheses.
This tragedy is reminiscent of the shooting which shook Villerupt on May 17, 2023. That day, five people were injured, including three seriously, during a clash linked to drug trafficking at the border, in this town of 10,000 inhabitants.
