The Adapei can blow. This time, the countdown is on. HAS Ploërmel (Morbihan)ses disabled workers finally take possession of the new ESAT.
“The handover of the keys is imminent,” immediately confirms the director of the establishment and work assistance service, Sophie Houeix.
Established in Plumelec since 1973, ESAT Les Bruyères was to migrate to the Moulin artisanal zone in a brand new structure in the summer of 2022.
The project was, on two occasions, slowed down by the surge in the price of raw materials. But by 2025, the Adapei finally sees the end of the tunnel. The association has revised its plans to see, at all costs, its project come to fruition.
Their new roof of some 3,600 m2attached to CEM 56 – adapted company – is about to be operational. “ESAT will officially start its activities in Ploërmel at the beginning of March,” reveals the director.
Ploërmel will breathe new life into Esat
Until now, the Establishment allowed 95 adults with intellectual disabilities to exercise a supervised professional activity by around twenty educators.
The support was structured around missions of packaging, dmaintenance of premises and green spaces. From a carpentry workshop too. “These activities will continue in our new environment. »
More Ploërmel opens the field of possibilities, and Esat will take advantage of this new chapter to develop a complementary service: the FALC.
Behind the acronym, the “easy to read and understand” is a writing method which aims to make clearer information.
-In other words, texts simplified using pictograms, short sentences, or more mundanely, the choice of sans serif typography.
“12 of our workers are authorized to transcribe all types of documents, this is useful for people with disabilities, dyslexics, the elderly or those who have difficulty mastering the French language. »
A restaurant run entirely by disabled workers
And in the city of 10,000 inhabitants, Adapei will go a little further. Esat will host a restaurant where both cooking and service will be provided by disabled workers.
“Between our teams and those of CEM 56, 100 meals will be prepared daily,” announces Sophie Houeix, who gives herself one year to open several tables to the general public. “We will develop the activity without skipping steps, the priority is to move at the pace of the workers. What we want is to promote their skills. »
And strong symbol of inclusion for the Adapei who turns the Melecian page, between impatience and nostalgia. THE transfer to Ploërmel involves the relocation of a number of workers.
« The shelter goes hand in hand with Esat. It was also rebuilt in Ploërmel, near the new public school. »
Residents will benefit from individual houses or from small collectives “so as not to disturb those who have been living in meetings for several years. »
Difference should not be an obstacle and this guideline has guided the choices of Adapei since its creation in 1961.
