The fight against cheating is a scourge for online gaming on Black Ops 6 and Warzone and Activision has announced new measures to further fight and prevent cheating in the game as much as possible. It’s still far from over, but more cheaters were banned.
New measures against cheating in Call of Duty
Ahead of the launch of Season 2 of Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone on January 28, Activision wanted to respond to feedback received from the community in recent weeks and how the developers want to improve the game. The developers announce new layers of security and protection against cheaters that are already online, as well as updates aimed at protecting the competitive integrity of the game.
- Updated detection models for behavioral systems, such as Aim Bot, and other data points, including account trust and hardware credentials, to target serial cheaters.
- More than 136,000 account bans in ranked play since the mode’s launch.
- Improvement of cross-examination tools to reduce the time required for action on accounts
- New detection and warning systems for spam reporting by accounts
Activision also reminds that malicious reports are contrary to the security policy. It is important to clarify that when a user uses the in-game report button repeatedly against a user, or someone uses an illegal cheat tool to send 10,000 reports, the system does not take into account further from a single report of one player against another (despite what cheat developers tell players when trying to sell their illegal software).
- New detection and warning systems for repeated gaming behavior with cheaters
Note: When a cheater is banned, the system detects other accounts they have regularly played with and flags them for investigation to combat boosting and other cheater behavior.
-Finally, it should be noted that Activision does not use bans based on IP addresses as part of the fight against cheating, as they tend to take action against entire groups within a range that does not pose a problem. For example, a university campus or internet café would be swept by a wave of bans based on IP addresses when only one machine is targeted.
While Season 2 will bring improvements to the anti-cheat systems, it is already anticipated that a “multitude of new technologies, including an entirely new system for authenticating legitimate players and targeting cheaters” is planned for the season. Season 3 and those that follow. Activision deliberately wants to keep a little mystery so that cheaters cannot prepare for it.
