As expected, Pokémon TCG Pocket trading will have a lot of limitations

Mobile gaming Pokémon TCG Pocket is finally preparing to integrate a card exchange system. This feature, teased since the launch of the game a few months ago, is eagerly awaited by players who accumulate rare cards in their collections, including doubles, triples, or even more. But as was to be expected, the developers (Creatures, Inc. and DeNA) have announced restrictions to this exchange system, and we might as well tell you that this is already causing criticism among the most loyal fans.

Scheduled for the end of the month, “trading” imposes several restrictive rules:

The restrictions, particularly on rare cards, have caused an outcry. Frustrated players point out that the main point of “trading” is to complete their collections by exchanging high-value duplicate cards. “If I can’t trade my rare cards, what’s the point?” deplores a player.

YouTuber Austin John Plays also criticized the system: “Limiting trades to cards of the same rarity is already restrictive, but preventing the rarest from trading is demoralizing.”

Faced with criticism, the developers promise to listen to feedback after launch. With $400 million in revenue generated by the game already, it remains to be seen whether this feature will evolve to meet player expectations. It is nevertheless unlikely that the lines will move on this question of exchange because rules that are too flexible could in particular encourage multiple accounts.
