Tesla, Apple and Spotify: so many tech giants who made us great promises for 2024. Except that certain new products announced for last year never saw the light of day. It's time to take stock.

A cheaper Tesla and other new features
For Tesla, the year 2024 was marked by the absence of a more affordable car, even if the Model Y Juniper was recently launched, Robotaxi or even autonomous driving without human intervention. If these new features will arrive in 2025 according to Elon Musk, the billionaire had nevertheless promised a release for last year. In 2020, the businessman spoke of a $25,000 Tesla for 2023 before abandoning this project, while promising a vehicle “more affordable” for the first half of 2025.
The Robotaxi, first planned for 2020, will finally be released in 2026 under the name CyberCab, in particular. As for autonomous driving without human intervention, it's for this year. Elon Musk is used to making big promises, the absence of these new things for 2024 is not surprising.
The new generation of CarPlay
Apple has been working for a while on an evolution for CarPlay which, according to the Californian company, represents “the ultimate iPhone experience for the car”. The system is designed to manage the vehicle's infotainment system and digital dashboard.
CarPlay is functional but yet the system remains disconnected from the rest of the vehicle interface. Apple promised to bring us as close as possible to an Apple Car experience, a project abandoned after a decade of development. The promise was the deployment of a new CarPlay for 2024.
-However, the Cupertino company clearly indicated this on the CarPlay website and still mentions a release for 2024 for the new generation of its product. Porsche is working in particular to integrate the latest CarPlay features into its vehicles.
Spotify's hi-fi offering
Giants like Amazon Music, Apple Music and Tidal already offer high-fidelity music streaming called hi-fi. It is therefore strange that Spotify has not yet deployed this technology as a market leader.
However, the functionality was announced in February 2021. The application has still not launched anything, not even in 2024 as we wrote in our columns.
Spotify CEO Daniel Ek spoke about a “version deluxe de Spotify” with “better sound”without specifying a launch date. The offer including hi-fi could be called Spotify Supremium.
