Duel comparison: OnePlus 4 vs Motorola Edge 50 Pro

The OnePlus 4 relies on a 50 megapixel (Mpx) main module effective in broad daylight, delivering detailed photos despite some chromatic aberrations. At night, it performs respectably with sharp, although smoothed, contours, but the 8 Mpx ultra-wide angle struggles to convince: overexposure, washed out colors and excessive smoothing spoil the whole thing, especially in dim light. The 16 Mpx selfie camera ensures pleasant self-portraits, but a little too softened, while the video offers welcome optical stabilization and 4K capture at 60 fps.

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro relies on a more versatile configuration which allows it to regain the advantage in this round. Its 50 Mpx main module manages colors and contrasts well, although a slight blur appears at the periphery. Its 12 Mpx ultra wide-angle, equipped with autofocus, offers correct results, particularly in macro, but can still be improved in low light. As a bonus, a 10 Mpx x3 telephoto lens, absent from OnePlus, adds an additional dimension, even if it sometimes lacks sharpness. The 50 Mpx front camera produces detailed selfies, and the video up to 4K, enriched with options such as dual capture, is convincing.
