While waiting for GTA 6, Rockstar is removing the incredible GTA V mod with Liberty City | Xbox

Last month, a team of modders called World Travel made headlines by presenting the Liberty City Preservation Projecta mod simply bringing the city of Liberty City as well as most of the assets of GTA IV into GTA V. Obviously, the project has no more than Rockstar and Take-Two, who put the kibosh on it.

Rockstar removes Liberty City Preservation Project mod

In a message published on its Discord server, the team indicates the end of the project after having “discussed with Rockstar”.

Due to the unexpected attention our project received and after discussions with Rockstar Games, we have decided to end the Liberty City Preservation Project. We appreciate all the support the project has received and look forward to continuing our passion for modding the Grand Theft Auto series.

The reasons for the withdrawal are therefore not mentioned, but the team specifies that the mod was not the subject of a DMCA from Take-Two or Rockstar, that there is no animosity between the parties concerned, and that they have agreed on a “friendly withdrawal”.

Even if the companies surely have excellent reasons to intervene, we can only regret this decision when we see the impressive work that World Travel was carrying out.

If nothing is yet confirmed, it is possible that Take-Two and Rockstar want above all to prevent such a mod from overshadowing a hypothetical remaster of GTA IV. After the remaster and PC port of Red Dead Redemption and the release of Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy: The Definitive Edition, a remaster of GTA IV would have its place in the video game landscape, especially since Take-Two confirmed that it was working on several remasters in 2022.

If you want to see what it looked like Liberty City Preservation Projectyou will find below the trailer released last month at the launch of the project.
