Winnipeg Jets finalize trade with Chicago Blackhawks to acquire defenseman Isaak Phillips in return for the defender Dmitry Kuzminreported Darren Dreger of TSN Wednesday afternoon.
With the transaction not yet confirmed, it is unclear if there are other players or draft picks involved in this transaction, or if it is simply a one-for-one trade.
Dmitry Kuzmin who takes charge of Chicago is a 21-year-old defender drafted in the 3rd round in 2021 (82nd total). He’s not the tallest at 5’10, but he’s strong on his skates, weighing 195 pounds. He was drafted mainly for his offensive skills and for the moment he has not yet had the chance to showcase himself in the NHL.
Isaak Phillips is also a defender. at 23, he is a former 5th round pick in 2020 (141st overall). Unlike Kuzmin, he has experience in the NHL, 56 games in total since 2022 where he collected 12 points. At 6’3, 205 pounds, Phillips is a defensive-minded defender who is still very mobile.
