Samsung is preparing a revolution for its Bixby assistant

Samsung has just revealed a promising preview of the new capabilities of Bixby, its voice assistant, through a short teaser video published on January 13. This announcement comes a few days before the next Galaxy Unpacked event, scheduled for January 22.

In a new 17-second video, entitled “A true AI companion is coming”, the Korean manufacturer demonstrates a more natural and sophisticated use of its assistant. The latter would now be boosted with AI, and available from the release of the Galaxy S25.

We see a user asking Bixby to search for an Italian restaurant with a pet-friendly terrace, then share the information with a contact and add the appointment to the calendarall in one voice command. Practical, especially if it really works as Samsung claims in its video.

Bixby could well move up a gear thanks to AI

This demonstration suggests a significant improvement in natural language processing (NLP), allowing Bixby to understand and execute more complex and multitasking instructions. This development is part of the strategy announced by Won-joon Choi, executive vice president of Samsung's mobile division, who spoke of the need to ” redefine the role of Bixby » in the face of the rise of generative AI.

Samsung has already started to enrich the functionality of Bixby, notably with the integration of Galaxy AI allowing live translation, spelling correction and summarization of web pages by voice command. These features, initially rolled out on the Galaxy S24, were later extended to other models.

The manufacturer thus confirms its commitment to Bixby, considered a “ key voice assistant » in its ecosystem. This new version should be shown in detail at the launch of the Galaxy S25 seriesalongside other technological innovations.
