Nintendo Switch 2: this time it's (normally) the good one (announcement date)

On January 13, 2017, almost exactly eight years ago (an eternity), Nintendo revealed the release date of the Nintendo Switch via a conference. What if the company had waited for this exact week in 2025 to do the same with the Nintendo Switch 2? Numerous clues and ever more concrete rumors suggest this in any case. An exact day is even put forward by certain sources, which we will take as always in the conditional: this Thursday, January 16.

A first announcement probably incomplete

According to the Nate the Hate podcast, this date will be an opportunity for Nintendo to only talk about the hardware of its new portable console, which is increasingly on the run. He specifies: “I've heard that the presentation itself will focus almost exclusively on the console itself. There will be no games present. There might be some gameplay on screen, depending on how the trailer is put together, but software won't be the focus.

A second presentation, therefore focusing on the Nintendo Switch 2 games (as well as its price?), could be held at the end of February or the beginning of March. This had also been the two-step method of communication for the first Switch. Note that this podcast is not the only one to think that Nintendo will finally lift the veil on its console this week: journalist Tom Warren from The Verge agrees. The latter also thinks that Microsoft games will quickly be available on the Nintendo console.

Finally the end of the leaks? (No)

Nate the Hate also believes that the Nintendo Switch 2 could hit stores in May or June. A new version of Mario Kart could accompany this expected launch, followed by a new 3D Mario during the end-of-year holidays. As for games from other developers, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Assassin’s Creed Mirage or even Metal Gear Solid Delta : Snake Eater could also be there.

See you (perhaps) this Thursday to finally officially find out more about the Nintendo Switch 2 (which may not be called that at all, after all)!
