The Last of US 2 comes to PC with a constraint that gamers will hate

Expected in April on PC, The Last of Us Part 2 will require players to connect to a PSN account. A constraint, increasingly common for Sony exclusives arriving on PC, which makes one cringe.

It’s now fully official, The Last of Us Part 2 comes to PC. Already addable to the “Wishlists” of Steam and the Epic Games Store, the former PlayStation exclusive will be available there from April 3, but we learn that Sony will ask PC players for a PSN account for launch the title. Very unpopular (that’s a euphemism, especially for a solo game), this prerequisite had already earned the company numerous criticisms in the past.

With Helldivers 2, Sony had in fact already required players to connect to a PSN account, immediately causing a high degree of dissatisfaction. This outcry had also pushed the company to backtrack and declare that it was still “ learning what’s best for PC gamers ».

Unfortunately for Sony, the alibi of inexperience no longer holds. We now see that this rule is now almost systematic for Sony exclusives arriving on PC.

Sony is determined to upset PC gamers…

Recently this was for example the case on God of War Ragnarokwhich also required a PSN account when it was released on PC. As recalled VideoGamesChronicleone player had even developed a mod allowing this constraint to be lifted, but the device was quickly blocked by Sony.

Whether PC gamers like it or not, so it will be the same with The Last of Us Part 2 in April.

We learn, however, that players who have pre-ordered the title will receive as a bonus two objects available in the game (in this case the improvement in ammunition capacity, and the “crafting training manual”).

Originally launched in 2020 on PlayStation 4, The Last of Us Part 2 was released on PlayStation 5 in January 2024, through a remastered version very well received by players and the press.

At the same time, let us remember that season 2 of the eponymous series, broadcast on HBO, is also due to arrive in April. A decidedly busy month for the Naughty Dog license.
