Ross Campbell gives Islanders victory in overtime, 5-4

Ross Campbell scored 3:03 into overtime and the Charlottetown Islanders won their fourth straight game on Thursday, beating the Cape Breton Eagles 5-4.

The Eagles were looking for their sixth straight win.

The Islanders took a 2-0 lead less than two minutes into the game.

There were only 16 seconds left when Matthew Butler converted a pass from Simon Hughes during a two-on-one.

Jude Herron doubled the lead 1:42 later from the slot, thanks to a feed from Brayden Stumpf.

Jacob Newcombe closed the gap at 11:00 in the first period with a slap shot.

The pass from the left flank came from Charlottetown native Cam Squires, a New Jersey Devils prospect.

Joseph Henneberry created the deadlock 18 seconds into the middle period, using a backhand.

Nathan Plouffe took advantage of a breakaway to give the Eagles a 3-2 lead at 2:59 in the second period.

William Shields leveled the score before Henneberry completed a double late in the second period.

Kyle Powers, however, brought the score to 4-4 midway through the third period.

Drummondville 4 Halifax 3

Sam Oliver scored two goals to bring his total to 34 as the Voltigeurs defeated the Mooseheads, 4-3.

Luke Woodworth collected three assists for the winners.

Halifax lost a sixth consecutive game.

Sherbrooke 0 Rouyn-Noranda 4

Samuel Meloche made 24 saves and the Huskies dominated the Phoenix, 4-0.

Thomas Verdon scored two goals, then Rémi Gélinas imitated him.

Rouyn-Noranda signed a third victory in a row.

Moncton 4 Gatineau 2

Markus Vidicek and Alex Mercier each scored a 19th goal, helping the Wildcats win 4-2 against the Londres.

It was a ninth straight win for Moncton, while the Olympics suffered a fourth loss in a row.

Baie-Comeau 6 Victoriaville 1

Jules Boilard scored two goals and three points in a Drakkar victory over the Tigres, 6-1.
