the release of the game “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” postponed again

Originally scheduled for November, then pushed back to February, the long-awaited game is now scheduled to release on March 20.

A new delay for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. After being pushed back for the first time to February 14, Ubisoft’s video game will finally only be released on March 20, the French publisher said in a press release this Thursday, January 9. He therefore decided to give an additional month to the development of his video game.

“This additional time will allow us to better integrate player feedback collected over the past three months, and create the best possible conditions for the game’s launch, continuing to work closely with the increasingly positive Assassin’s Creed community.” , justified Ubisoft.

A controversial game

Ubisoft believes that this delay is necessary for “the most ambitious Assassin’s Creed opus in the franchise”. “This will allow us to deliver the full potential of the game and end the year on a solid note,” assured its co-founder and general manager, Yves Guillemot.

And Assassin’s Creed Shadows is highly anticipated, it has been controversial since its presentation. Presentation which showed a black character as a samurai in the game set in feudal Japan. Ubisoft was accused of “insulting Japanese culture”, with a petition denouncing “a serious problem of historical accuracy and lack of cultural respect”.

If the character did exist, some players believe that his role as described in Assassin’s Creed Shadows does not fully reflect reality. His skin color has also sparked criticism on forums like 4Chan, with netizens accusing Ubisoft of “wokism”.

It was following these criticisms that the French publisher decided to postpone the game initially planned for November, to February, in order to refine it. But it seems he needs more time for that.
