inZoi Announces New Feature That Could Hurt The Sims 4 Again

While Electronic Arts seems to be in difficulty, confirming the cancellation of The Sims 5 last September, betting everything on The Sims 4, even after 10 years of good and loyal service, inZoi intends to provide a little freshness. Developed by the inZOI Studio teams and published by Krafton, the game should be a life simulation, very largely inspired by The Sims. The main difference is that inZoi will offer a game ultra-realisticmuch more advanced than the Sims and graphics, again, which are intended to be very realistic.

Among the functionalities that should differentiate themselves from the possibilities of Sims, inZoi should offer (in the years to come) a system of good and evil with prison sentences for characters who get caught.

It was in a recent message on the game’s official Discord that the creators revealed new ideas and features for inZoi. The developers are waiting for feedback from the community to find a perfect middle ground for a notion of good and evil, accompanied by a judicial system.

The developers confirm that basically, they did not want to offer this in their game to avoid harming the player experience. On the other hand, to offer an ultra-realistic game, teams must offer a balance between good and evil, because the world of inZoi is not a utopia.

Thus, the development team plans to integrate a crime system linked to thefts. The inZOI Studio team does not want to include violence in their game, but opts for minor crimes like theft which could land players who are caught in prison. The sentence could go up to three days in prison for the most serious thefts. Meanwhile, players would have the option to control another family if their Zoi is part of a one-person household.

The developers insist that they do not want to go too far and end up with charges with the police. The objective is therefore to ask for community feedback to find a happy medium:

“Basically, I avoided including provocative or violent themes, as many games already explore this effectively. My goal was to make inZOI deliver fun without relying on these elements. However, for a developer, it is difficult to ignore them completely, knowing that they are likely to appeal to players […] Defining the set of appropriate actions for criminals and police has been a challenge. One approach currently is to temporarily place criminals caught by police in a rabbit hole (in prison), with a maximum sentence of three days. During this period, players must control another household if their criminal Zoi lives in a single-person household […] We also didn’t want to get into all-out police chases with helicopters and tanks. […] My vision for inZOI is to find a balance where good and evil coexist, like in real life, without creating a perfect utopia. Adding crime mechanics like theft aligns with this vision while remaining grounded in reality so as not to go too far.”
