Despite an increasing focus on the future of Windows on ARM, Microsoft is not letting go of the good old Intel architecture, as proven by the latest rumors concerning the release of new Surfaces.
If you are attached to the x86 architecture, Microsoft has good news for you. The manufacturer should, by the end of the month, release two new devices with Intel processors. No big surprise here, since it would simply be the new versions of the Surface Pro 11 and the Surface Laptop 7 intended for businesses.
Indeed, as noted Windows CentralMicrosoft has started to heat up the sauce for an announcement aimed at businesses at the end of the month. On LinkedIn, the brand promises that ads “important» will take place at “Microsoft AI Tour » which will be held in New York at the end of the month.
Copilot+ on x86
Without playing Nostradamus, it is easy to guess that the announcement will concern Intel variants of Microsoft’s star PCs. Persistent rumors have been promising the arrival of such machines since last October and the focus on the corporate world reinforces this possibility.
Indeed, the business world is still cautious about ARM-based PCs due to the potential software incompatibilities that they may encounter. Finally, it would be logical to announce these PCs at an event dedicated to AI, since Lunar Lake processors are eligible for the “Copilot+” program which brings together all Windows PCs designed for artificial intelligence.
Arm and Intel to protect its back
If the Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 under Snapdragon are excellent machines, as evidenced by our tests, the arrival of Intel versions would be good news, if only for questions of software compatibility. But, as we explained at the end of last year, the latest Intel processors also wash away the honor after the debauchery of 13th and 14 generation chips.

Microsoft Surface Laptop (7th gen) review: towards a bright future for Microsoft
It remains to be seen whether Microsoft will jealously reserve its machines for its business customers or whether the Lunar Lake variants of the Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 will be able to land in the hands of the general public. In any case, Microsoft does not seem quite ready to abandon Intel and seems determined to juggle ARM and x86 architecture in order to ensure a bright future for its Surface machines in any case.
