CES 2025: Genki exhibits the Switch 2 before Nintendo

Nintendo is not present at the Consumer Electronics Show 2025 which takes place this week in Las Vegas. However, the Japanese giant is making a name for itself thanks to the prop makers present on site, who came to present accessories for the future Switch 2. Genki, one of these manufacturers, exhibited in a private room what it describes as a replica of the future console, thus offering a detailed overview of the shape of the device long awaited by Nintendo fans, whose announcement could be imminent.

The Switch 2 model, which would have been made from an authentic console and not 3D plans, confirms recent rumors by presenting larger dimensions than those of the current Switch. The new generation should be equipped with an 8-inch screen, compared to 6.4 inches for the current model, and have a second USB-C port on the upper part. Joy-Con controllers should now attach via a magnetic system and offer an unlock button. They would also have an optical sensor and a new additional C button on the right Joy-Con, although their function remains to be specified.

Genki, whose website has a video showing the supposed future console, indicated to the site Numerama present on site that its eight accessories should be marketed in April 2025, suggesting a release of the console at the same time. The date of March 28 had previously been mentioned by other prop makers. Nintendo, which has not yet confirmed this information, simply indicated that announcements would be made before the end of the current financial year, i.e. before March 31, 2025.
