Switch 2 leaks, we always try to take them with a little parsimony. After all, leaks and rumors have been multiplying for several years now, sometimes without any real value. The disillusionment with a potential Switch Pro, which has attracted the attention of many influencers and unsavory sites eager to provide the public with what they want (the dream), pushes every observer who is a little serious to gauge this type of information with a certain restraint. But when leaks and consistent rumors from proven sources multiply, it becomes difficult not to talk about it. Thus, we have already been able to address in these pages some somewhat comical leaks about the Switch 2, but also more official feedback (such as the filing of a patent for example). Today, it is time to take stock, because the information seems to agree more and more. And if we are to believe the internet, the Switch 2 no longer has many secrets up its sleeve for a potential imminent reveal.
In recent weeks, the alleged technical sheet of the Switch 2 has leaked, before being dissected by fans of figures and technology at Digital Foundry. The leak in question thus reported an Nvidia chip bearing the mention SNW8VF, offering power equivalent to the RTX 3000 series graphics cards (released 3 years ago now). For a semi-portable model, this seems more than sufficient, even if we have no doubt that the ayatollahs of power will not fail to rail against Nintendo, which likes to have fun with already obsolete technologies. We recall that this was already the case with the first Nintendo Switch of the name, which sold almost 150 million copies.
On the memory side, the Switch 2 should feature two SK Hynix chips with the code name H58GE6AK8BX107, which each offer a capacity of 6GB, for a total of 12GB of RAM (most sources agree on this figure). We also find a card reader, which goes in the direction of backward compatibility already officially announced by Nintendo. With such information, the specialists at Digital Foundry did their own little speculation at Eurogamer. According to them, this Switch 2 should offer “ graphics performance equivalent to that of the base PS4, augmented by modern GPU features and solid support for ray tracing “. On the other hand, Nvidia’s DLSS should play a vital role in the rendering of the games offered. This is also in line with the patent filed by Nintendo several months ago (and publicly revealed only a few days ago).
At Digital Foundry, we also believe that a “ Huge range of PS4 game ports will appear on this new console, in addition to Nintendo’s flagship titles “. On the other hand, ” some of the current generation titles aiming for 60 FPS could find a way to arrive on the Switch 2, probably by running at 30 FPS in return ».
-But nothing happens
Then come the joy-cons. You know, those things that tend to drifter if you don’t pay too much attention to it. Various photos have been revealed online, including very recent ones which show a more sober design, but also new types of connections for the small detachable controllers. Some have even gone so far as to speculate that these Joy-Con 2.0s would be capable of being used as a mouse. The SR and SL buttons seem much more imposing than in the past. But obviously, these images revealed on a Chinese forum do not benefit from any sort of legitimacy. Except perhaps the fact that they reveal a serial number, which will certainly allow Nintendo to find the culprit of the leak in two or three movements.
So this is where we are. We risk hearing new leaks almost every day until Nintendo makes it official. But besides, speaking of officialization, don’t the leaks speak of a potential date for the famous reveal of the new console? Imagine yes, but the problem is that according to the latest news, the Switch 2 was supposed to be unveiled by Nintendo at the very beginning of January. Here we are, and we still have nothing to put our teeth into (you will see that through a simple spirit of contradiction, the console will end up being revealed today or tomorrow). So now, speculators are talking about the end of March for marketing. Some accessory manufacturers have indicated that they want to put their products dedicated to the new console on sale from March 28. In any case, Nintendo has indeed announced that it will unveil its Switch 2 (whatever its future name) before the end of the current fiscal year (i.e. the end of March).
