To my knowledge, Microsoft has started this type of practice since Windows 10.
On the other hand, personally, I was planning to test Windows 11 again on my laptop, but in fact…
Given the problems that there are under Windows 11 (and I'm not only talking about the problems identified with 24H2, but also about the Explorer, always with strawberries, the taskbar which we can no longer position as we wishes etc…) … there is an increasing probability that my only OS is Linux (well, I say that, but currently, I also have Haiku on it )
In short, MS's antics annoy me more and more.
So, I'm waiting for some at the turning point “YES, YOU'LL SEE LINuX ON YOUR LAPTOP, IT'S GOING TO BE HELL”…
My Thinkpad has been running Linux as the main OS for a few years now and everything is going well.
The ONLY annoying point is that I can't run Dxo Optics Pro on it (Windows only), but at worst, in my case it is acceptable to only have it on the desktop PC).
Edit: On the other hand, surprising or not, I have not had any popup from MS so far, apart from the message from the update module which tells me that Win11 is compatible with my machine and offers to install it.
