After 18 years of absence, Tokyo Xtreme Racer will return on January 23 on Steam – News

According to Genki, the game's early access period looks set to be rather short (only four months), but the Japanese studio undoubtedly knows that plans can largely evolve depending on the intensity of the reviews. At launch, early access to Tokyo Xtreme Racer will in any case allow you to go halfway through the story mode, which results in more than 50 playable cars and 200 rival characters to face on more than 180 kilometers of the Shuto Expressway.

The focus will be on the “Spirit Point Battle” feature, a numerical value that represents the will of drivers. Here, being the fastest is not enough. In the duel between him and his rival, which begins with a flash of headlights, the player must master psychological strategies to break the determination of his opponents. The customization of cars will of course be there, but also, as a sign of modernization, the new possibility of gaining skills.

Version 1.0 of the game will include the rest of the content (stories, vehicles, rivals) and, naturally, various improvements and fixes based on player feedback during Early Access. Genki has not communicated the launch price of the game, but it should appear soon enough on the Steam page. Here are also the configurations:
