Porsche first appearance of the fourth electric generation

100% electric, the fourth version of the Porsche is in the starting blocks. Our scoop hunters have uncovered still heavily camouflaged prototypes operating during a cold mission in Sweden accompanied by the electric Macan which opens the way. As usual at Porsche, we prefer a sober black livery to the traditional adhesive films with a psychedelic pattern. But despite this camouflage, the false headlights do not create an illusion for long and the real optics in the vein of those of the second generation Macan are perfectly identifiable. On the other hand, it remains difficult at this stage to get an idea of the shape of the shield, the sides and the contours of the quarter panels where imposing decoys occupy the ground. However, at the back, a thin pixelated light strip which also remains partly hidden brings a high-tech touch to the whole.

The arrival of the electric Cayenne “4” does not condemn the hybrid Cayenne “3”

This fourth opus of the Porsche Cayenne should appear in 2026. It will logically be based on the Volkswagen group’s PPE modular platform, a technical base released by the electric Macan and the Audi Q6 e-tron and A6 e-tron. But the arrival of the Cayenne in dealerships will not necessarily condemn the current version known internally under the code (PO 536) which appeared in 2018 and then restyled in 2023 when it retires.

Indeed, the global best-seller of the German brand will remain in the catalog in order to maintain an electrified thermal offer – the E-Hybrid versions combining 470 hp, S E-Hybrid (519 hp) and Turbo E-Hybrid (739 hp) – and above all allow Porsche not to put all its eggs in one basket. Electricity, imposed by the date of 2035, is however not the panacea. Like many high-end brands, Porsche has had to review its copy and will be obliged to do double duty in this market segment. At least initially.
