On this day, master craftsman Takuma Kawauchiya is present. He is the inventor, in 2022, of the Kodo (“heartbeat” in Japanese), the first grand complication from Grand Seiko, which combines for the first time in the history of watchmaking a tourbillon with a mechanism. at constant force.

Simplicity, rigor, refinement and sophistication: these four “mantras”, like bushido, the samurai’s code of honor, guide Grand Seiko in the manufacture of its timepieces. Since the creation by Taro Tanaka in 1967 of the 44 GS model, the spearhead of the house's aesthetics, Grand Seiko craftsmen, respecting a principle of excellence called takumi, pursue only one goal: to fine-tune the technique to create the perfect watch.
