The company Druck Chemie, located Route du Prouau in Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire, currently operates as a supplier of specialty chemicals, consumables and support services to the printing and graphics industry.
It wishes to set up a new hazardous waste collection facility on its site, and has therefore requested an environmental authorization request from the prefecture.
“Hazardous waste”: a regulatory classification
Waste is classified into three categories:
- « Inert non-hazardous waste » (which do not undergo any physical or chemical modification)
- « Non-hazardous waste »: this is waste which does not present any of the 15 hazardous properties defined at European level. bio-waste, glass or plastic waste, wood, etc.
- « Hazardous waste »: this concerns waste which presents one or more of the 15 hazardous properties defined at European level: flammable, toxic, dangerous for the environment, etc. Hazardous waste is subject to specific management rules, due to the risks particular environmental and health impacts associated with their handling.
Hazardous waste is subject to strict handling rules (monitoring, packaging, mixing ban). They are then transported and treated in specialized centers, in conditions that pose no risk to the population.
A public inquiry from January 7 to 24
If a company is likely to produce so-called “hazardous” waste, it must obtain environmental authorization from the prefecture. This is the case of the company Druck Chemie. This request is subject to public inquiryorganized by the prefecture with an independent investigating commissioner and his deputy.
From January 7 to January 24, 2025, people affected by the project are invited to:
- consult the investigation file at the town hall (opening hours) and on the prefecture website
- send a notice in the register at the town hall, by post or by email to the address [email protected]
- meet the investigating commissioner present at the Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire Town Hall:
- Tuesday January 7, 2025 from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
- Saturday January 18, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Friday January 24, 2025 from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
